Privacy Statement

This statement covers information collected through beaconmedia.foundation and its forms. It is intentionally concise, in keeping with Beacon's early stage. It will be expanded as the organization grows.

What information we collect

Beacon operates three forms: a volunteer application, an organization support request, and a donor/sponsor inquiry. Each form collects only the information needed to evaluate and respond to that specific request — for example, contact details, relevant professional or organizational background, and the nature of the request. Required and optional fields are clearly marked on each form.

Why we collect it

Information is collected solely to evaluate applications, respond to inquiries, coordinate volunteer opportunities, and assess technology support requests. We do not use form submissions for advertising, and the public site does not set analytics or advertising cookies by default.

How we use it

Submitted information is used by Beacon staff and, where relevant to reviewing a volunteer or organization application, a limited number of trusted reviewers. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties except where necessary to operate the service (for example, our hosting and database provider, Cloudflare) or where required by law.

Data minimization and retention

We aim to collect the minimum information necessary for each form's purpose. We do not ask for sensitive personal data (such as government ID numbers, financial account details, or health information) through these forms. Submissions are retained only as long as reasonably needed to evaluate and act on them, or as required by law.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational security measures appropriate to an early-stage nonprofit, including server-side validation, parameterized database queries, encrypted transport (HTTPS), and access restrictions on stored submissions. See our Security page for more detail. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, and we do not claim otherwise.

Your rights

You may ask us to correct or delete the information you submitted, or to tell you what we hold about you. Because Beacon Media Foundation has a legal base in Sweden, we design our data practices with GDPR principles in mind — data minimization, a clearly defined purpose for collection, consent for contact, and the ability to request deletion. We intend to offer data export on request as our tooling matures. This statement describes our practices and intentions; it is not a guarantee of legal compliance in every jurisdiction.
